Fatty liver disease
|
Certain abnormal accumulation of fats in the liver cells causes
fatty liver which is a disease. Thorughout the world, this disease affects
heavy alcohol drinkers and obese people.
It is associated commonly with metabolic syndromes, such as diabetes,
obesity, hypertension, and dyslipidemia or alcohol. It can also be due
to other causes or diseases which affect fat metabolism.
Diabetes is a serious chronic disease. If you notice signs or fatty
liver symptoms it is necessary to have diabetes testing at once.
Testing for diabetes and additional diabetes information will disperse
your
possible fear of this disease.
There are 2 different types of fatty liver disease: alcoholic
fatty liver disease and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
It is difficult to distinguish between the 2 as both show macrovesicular
and microvesicular fatty changes during the different stages.
The "end stage liver failure"-Liver
damage that can lead to liver failure..
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease does not have any symptoms. When
people do have fatty
liver symptoms, it may include fatigue, weight loss, and upper right-hand
abdomen pain.
Did you know that losing weight too fast can worsen fatty liver disease?
Many do not know, but this is true! Do not be too anxious about losing
too much weight in a short time.
Instead, go slow with it and lose just 10% of the weight over 6 months.
There is no standard treatment for fatty liver disease. Doctors usually
treat the risk factors which cause the disease. For e.g. Doctors help
one lose weight if they are obese through exercise and diet. In some
rare cases, surgery and medications.
If the disease is caused by medication, the doctor may prescribe a different
medication.
Alcoholic fatty liver is a reversible and early of excessive consumption
of alcohol. Under the observation of the microscope, the fat accumulation
in the liver cells, known as fatty change or steatosis, can be viewed
as fatty globules. Large fatty globules are caused by alcoholism.
However, small fatty globules are caused by different factors.
Other macrovesicular steatosis causes are diabetes,
starvation and obesity.
A study was done to observe the pathologic changes in those with alcoholic liver disease. It can be divided into 3 groups, namely alcoholic fatty liver, also known as simple steatosis, alcohol-related cirrhosis, and alcoholic hepatitis.
